域见北疆 · Discover the Last Frontier of China
Three worlds in one destination — the fairy-tale birch forests and glacial lakes of Altay, the rolling sub-alpine meadows of Ili, and in winter, a frozen wonderland no photograph has ever fully captured. Kanas, Hemu, Sayram Lake, the Duku Highway, and Ghost City.

Must-see experiences
China's most pristine alpine lake, deep inside the Altay Mountains. Wolong Bay, Fairy Bay, and Moon Bay each have their own character — mist-draped, moon-curved river bends through birch forest. The Guanyu Terrace overlooks it all.
One of China's most beautiful villages. Wooden Tuva houses, white birch forests, and the Hemu River valley. In autumn the birches turn gold — in winter they're cloaked in snow. From the observation deck, the whole village unfolds below you like a painting.
Summer: birch & wildflowers · Winter: snow villageA Danxia landscape along the Irtysh River. At sunset, the rock formations glow in shades of red, orange, and yellow — and across the river, green poplars form a sharp contrast. One of the most photogenic spots in all of Xinjiang.
Also known as the "Wind City." Wind-carved rock pillars of extraordinary shapes rise across the Gobi Desert. When the wind howls between the formations, the sound resembles ghostly cries. A place like nowhere else on Earth.
Called "The Last Tear of the Atlantic" — the westernmost ocean-connected lake in China. Crystal blue waters ringed by snow peaks. In summer, swans and wildflowers. In winter, blue ice, icefalls, and ice bubbles that look like another planet.
Summer: blue mirror · Winter: ice palaceA sub-alpine meadow at nearly 2,000m altitude — rolling green hills, wildflower seas, and snow-capped peaks. Called "Paradise on Earth." On certain months, herds of heavenly horses run through the Zhaosu Wetland below. Shuttle bus from base included.
Best: May–SeptemberOne of China's most beautiful roads — 560km through the Tianshan Mountains. The highway passes from alpine snow into grasslands, canyon gorges, and desert in a single day. Literally "four seasons in one day." Seasonal (Jun–Sep); train alternative in other months.
Seasonal: June–September onlyIn May–June, peonies and lavender carpet the Tianshan foothills. In August–September, Kazanchi Folk Area opens — ride a horse cart through Uyghur streets, taste the famous Marajun ice cream, and watch Uzbek folk performances.
Flowers: May–Jun · Culture: Aug–SepWinter unlocks experiences no other season offers: skiing in Altay (some of China's best snow), a snow party on the mountain, the Yunxiao Peak cable car with views across four countries (China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia), and a hot spring soak at Shawan.
Winter only: Nov–FebDay by day
